Waipio Valley is accessible only by 4-wheel drive, on foot, or on horseback (donkey-back?) - once the home of many Hawaiian families, now home to a few - (thanks in part to tsunamis) I used to camp in the valley when there were no "facilities" - nowadays there are a few porta-potties and camping is no longer allowed (figure that one out!) - I suspect there are still folks who camp out - just "unofficially"
